Ethics
As I move from college to the working world, there are some things that I know I will stay true to. The personal and professional ethics of inclusivity, honestly, loyalty, independence, balance, and empathy are six that no matter where I go, I will carry with me.
Inclusivity
I will always ensure that I am providing and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for my colleagues and those around me. Many perspectives make for well-rounded products, and a diverse team is a team that achieves more. I will celebrate people of all backgrounds and walks of life.
Honesty
Well, I'm a bad liar. So even if honesty and transparency weren't important to me, I wouldn't be good at feigning either one. I value truth, even if it's hard to hear. I believe honesty is vital in any workplace and allows for trust and positive relationships to be formed, and I vow to always be honest to others and myself.
Loyalty
I am a fiercely loyal person. I have a deep passion for my work and my relationships and know that this loyalty is something that I will utilize to assist me in making lasting connections with colleagues and clients and provide me with the trust and retention of anyone I manage.
Independence
I've never had a problem marching to the beat of my own drum, and I plan to do so in my future career, too. I'm unafraid of change and stepping out of my comfort zone, even if I have to do it alone. I am proficient at working on my own and in a team, and I will maintain this as I grow further into my career and relationships.
Balance
I will ensure that I create time for fun outside of work and find a work-life balance that promotes positive wellbeing physically, mentally, spiritually, and professionally. Balance is key to happiness and productivity, and I will promote it throughout my workplace.
Empathy
I will feel for and with others around me, providing grace to them as I would myself on bad days and understanding that there is so much more than the surface of every person I cross paths with. I will ensure that I provide an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or anything needed to a friend or colleague in need.
