Tiger Vision

Not many high schools, especially small Iowa ones, can boast about their state-of-the-art audio-visual department. Of those, not many students can boast that they were a part of theirs. However, I can. I discovered my love for events and design through a program known as Tiger Vision, which has amassed over 3600 likes on Facebook, 1500 Followers on Instagram, 1500 on Twitter, and 2300 subscribers on YouTube. In a town of less than 10,000 people, those are some pretty strong numbers.

I began the program in fall of 2019 with no prior experience. I quickly taught myself the ropes of Photoshop and began making simple promotional cards for sports games and activities. Come December, I was promoted in the class to a Student-Manager of the program's retail store. Here, I designed and created apparel using a Cricut machine, managed ~10 students, and was in charge of inventory, merchandising, and store promotion. I also was the right-hand woman to our instructor when it came to planning and executing events. I planned multiple events on my own through the program as well, such as the Homecoming Parade and Picture With the Tiger Events.

The program taught me A LOT. From learning to use Photoshop to being assertive when deadlines were missed to perfecting my customer service smile, I really am thankful for my time in Tiger Vision.

One of my final "big" projects through the program was to develop artwork for a wall located outside of the video control room. This was no easy task, and doing it myself was even more daunting. I had never had any experience close to something like this. The graphics I made were mainly digital or heat-press vinyl on a much smaller scale. I had no idea what I was doing, and my teacher totally cut me loose. However, I persevered. I measured, taped off, then measured and taped off again until it was perfect. It took months and lots of extra eyes. But I couldn't be happier of the end product and prouder of myself for simply completing it.

Below are some of my favorite pieces I completed during my time in TV, some of the events I planned, and the end product of the Control Room Vinyl.

A social media promotion I implemented and coordinated during March of 2020!

Homecoming 2019 Parade: The parade is one of my high school's most important traditions, and I got the opportunity to plan it in 2019. I contacted many local businesses and families to orchestrate the event, created a lineup, and coordinated a group to assist in carrying out the execution as I was to be in the parade as well.

TP for Good: An event I assisted in planning with over 2500 TP rolls donated during our 2019 Homecoming week

Picture with the Tiger: An event I orchestrated to utilize the school mascot and retail store during homecoming 2019. A small station was set up with items for purchase next to the mascot who was available for free photos for all fans!
